Pool Table Dimensions

Pool Table Dimensions

Pool Table Dimensions are regulated by the Billiard Congress of America and are limited to the pool table height and play surface size where the balls roll.  Pool table play surface height is 30.25" to 31" and outside pool table dimensions will vary based on the width of the pool table rails.  The rails generally add 12" additional to the interior play surface measurements both length and width.
  • 7' Pool Tables have an interior play surface 78" by 39"
  • 8' Pool Tables have an interior play surface 88" by 44"
  • Pro 8' Pool Tables have an interior play surface of 92" by 46"
  • 9' Tournament Pool Tables have an interior play surface of 100" by 50"

When measuring for room space always use the interior pool table play surface measurement plus 58" to represent the length of the pool cue when playing.  Pool Table Dimensions are only useful in determining the room you have around the table for the pool cue to avoid obstructions such as fixed walls or furniture 32" or higher.  Keep in mind the best practice is to measure for the pool cue around the pool table, not to measure for the actual pool table footprint in the room.
